“Developing from a support worker to a team leader has helped my confidence, but it’s also helped me understand myself a little bit more. When you see the people we support smile, and it could be something so simple like making them a cup of tea the way they like… It’s just amazing.”
Working at Sense means providing truly life-changing support for disabled people and their families. And that’s not just the case for the support workers in our supported living and day services. Everyone that works in our shops, colleges and central office functions also play an important part in ensuring that no one is left out of life.
We have a huge variety of job roles in locations across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, below are just some of the areas where we have opportunities:
A career working in our support services is both challenging and immensely rewarding. No two days are the same, and you’ll be making a real impact on the lives of the people you support.
From support worker or multi-sensory impairment (MSI) Practitioner, to team leader, to care manager, there’s a place for all levels of experience, and opportunities to grow and develop.
Teaching in a Sense College isn’t like other teaching jobs. It’s a unique opportunity to help someone with complex disabilities grow in confidence and achieve their potential. And people work in our colleges across the spectrum of roles, from education support worker, to SEND tutor, to principal.
Sense Shops offer retail jobs with a difference. Our shop managers lead and support an enthusiastic team of volunteers, and our warehouse team ensures stock is efficiently distributed. The whole team comes together to operate a professional retail business, while knowing that all profits go towards supporting crucial services for people who are deafblind or who have complex disabilities.
Our people research and campaign on issues affecting people who are deafblind or who have complex disabilities, raise funds to support our work, and do everything it takes to keep Sense running efficiently and effectively, including finance, HR and IT, fundraising and engagement.
Sense International is the only organisation dedicated to helping people with deafblindness and their families around the world.
With central roles - for example in fundraising - based in London, we work across Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Nepal, Peru, Romania, Tanzania and Uganda, ensuring that people with deafblindness are able to access education, healthcare and the means to earn a living.
Our range of roles and services means there is always an opportunity to progress your career at Sense. And we offer training and development opportunities at every stage to help you along your way, and ensure you reach your full potential.
