​Could you be a Sense Communicator Guide?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Communicator Guide/ Community Support Worker to join our fantastic Community Service in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

This is a permanent role, working 5 hours per week and your shift will be on Saturdays. 

Our Community Service provides valuable support for individuals with sensory loss to live the life they want, providing support which is led by the individual to reduce their social isolation.

You will support a young individual who has Autism access the community and to participate in social activities. The individual enjoys going on walks, the National Trust and taking part in Laser Quest.

The duties are varied, and no two days will be the same. The people we support are individuals and they are all treated as such. As a general guide, you will help to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing. 

You must have a valid UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle to support the individual in the community

Your duties can include:

  • To support individuals / groups within the community.
  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.
  • Full job specification is attached below.

Your required skills and experiences:

  • You require a full UK license and must be willing/able to drive your own vehicle.
  • You must have a Level 3 BSL qualification to carry out this role.
  • Previous experience working with people with Autism on a professional/personal level is desirable but not essential.
