Could you be a Sense Community Sensory Support Worker/ Communicator Guide?

Sense has some fantastic opportunities for Community Sensory Support Workers / Communicator Guides to join our services in Hertfordshire. This particular role is based in Hitchin. Offering £10.82 per hour (Includes Outer London Allowance) This is a unique post working 4 hours per week depending on your suitability / availability. With option to also take on close by community location work to build up weekly hours if appropriate for you!

The individual would like support to access the community safely and attend a local deaf social club. Along with going shopping and for walks in the local community for this reason you do require to have a Full UK drivers license, with access to your own vehicle. You will be working in the Hertfordshire community with individuals with a range of differing needs and or requirements, these individuals may need support during office hours in the week or ad hoc support on weekends.

Hertfordshire Community Locations:

Watford (Hertfordshire) 4 to 8 hrs per week

Community Sensory Support Worker / Communictaor Guide, Hitchin Desired Eperiences:

  • This role requires you to hold a valid UK driving licence with the use of your own vehicle.
  • Be able to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of those you are working with and where necessary develop new skills to enable communication through sign and symbols.
  • BSL skills / knowledge is required., previous tactile hands-on signing experience would be desired. 
  • Experience of working independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Willing and able to accompany/participate in leisure activities of the person’s choice.
