- You don’t need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need qualifications – we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker.
- Knowledge of multi sensory impairments / learning difficullties is beneficial.
- A full manual UK license is beneficial to assist with community trips.
- Knowledge of or qualification in British Sign Language or similar is beneficial ( BSL / Makaton etc.).

Could you be a Sense Support Worker?
We have an exciting opportunity at Sense for a Support Worker to join our fantastic Day service in Rotherham. This is the perfect role for a support worker wanting day time hours Monday - Sunday, (8.00am to 7pm) This is a permanent role, with various hours contracts available up to 37.5 hours per week to suit. We are offering a Sense Support Worker in Rotherham £9.75 per hour.
The contracts available are flexible and could suit those with family or other commitments, for example shifts can be arranged for 10.00-14.00, full days, afternoons/evenings, weekends.
Our Touch Base Centre in Rotherham is a purpose built centre which is the base for a huge variety of social activities and education based sessions, it is located within the heart of the local community and is a short walk from the local high street and its public transport network. Across our services we support adults and young people with a wide range of complex needs. This may include learning disabilities, Autism, sensory impairments and complex health needs. We support individuals to access meaningful and enriching activities with a focus on person centred planning and lifelong learning and development.
As a Support Worker you will support and enable people to make choices, to find ways to express themselves and to develop independent living and life skills. In the role you may be supporting individuals to access therapies and activities across our Sense Centres. This means that members of our team could be supporting somebody out on a day trip one day and in the allotment the next. Other activities on offer to the people we support in Rotheham include IT, basic literacy and numeracy, gardening, cooking, music activities, communication practice, work placements in local businesses, art activities, sensory environments and to access facilities in the local community.
The duties are varied and no two days will be the same. The people we support are individuals and they all treated as such. However, as a general guide, you may support with personal care needs, as well as help to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing.
