​About the role:

Following the growth of Sense College, we now have an opportunity for a talented individual to join the college as a Finance and Administration Assistant. 

Sense College is the overarching name for Sense College East (SCE) comprising of 8 sites and Sense College Loughborough which is based on one site. Each college has its own separate DfE and Ofsted registration. This role will oversee the finance responsibilities for both colleges.

The successful applicant will provide an efficient and effective administrative and financial support for Sense Colleges to the prescribed standards and timescale; to provide administrative support to the Finance Manager to ensure the effective financial operation of the Sense College East Primarily, but with cover for Sense College Loughborough as required.

The role will be for 24 hours per week for 39 weeks per year (term time 8 weeks +1 week in August. Monday to Thursday 9am – 3pm)

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support the setting up of new packages and ensure information is received on time and is accurate for Central Finance income team.
  • To update query monitoring spreadsheet and other monitoring spreadsheets as appropriate.
  • To support the investigation and resolution of any anomalies and queries regarding learners’ fees/changes to packages, cessation, etc.
  • To support the preparation of accruals/prepayments.
  • To prepare and action accruals / prepayments as advised by Finance Manager.
  • To run Q and A reports as advised by Finance Manager.
  • To upload the journals supplied by Sense College Loughborough as required.
  • To support in the preparation of Education and Adult Social Care invoice schedules.
  • To provide administrative duties associated with evidencing Bursary, Free School Meals (FSM) and Tuition expenditures including updating spreadsheets and keeping associated receipts.
  • To maintain appropriate filing systems in support of operations and undertake any other administrative tasks that are required.
  • To undertake any other duties as required and deemed appropriate to the role across any college centre/site
  • This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Educated to Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy 
  • Experience of entering and manipulating data in spreadsheets
  • Experience of performing routine data entry tasks
  • Experience in using Microsoft office.  Ability to use email, access the internet, complete electronic forms and records and save and retrieve electronic information.
  • Ability to handle day-to-day enquiries on own initiative, resolve basic problems in own area of work and provide information to aid problem solving.
