Could you be a Sense Childrens One to one Support Worker?

At Sense the people we support are individuals and they are all treated as such, so we have a fantastic Unique position available for a Children's One to one Support Worker to join us in the Radstock area. This is a permanent role, working anywhere from 8 hours per week, this could be 1 - 5 shifts a week depending on your availability / suitability. You don’t need to have an existing qualification within formal care, or have worked with children before, as you will receive a full induction and training into working with children with multisensory impairments and disabilities. You may have cared for a family member in the past, and felt the reward? Or be a genuinely caring person looking to help positively impact a Childs life? Sense are offering you £10.79 per hour.

You will support a child with multi sensory impairment and complex needs in their home and within the community.  This individual loves to get out and see the world and are very adventurous, they are located in the gorgeous countryside of Radstock so woodland walks are just one thing you will be doing. Trips to Longleat Safari parks and the Aquarium are also just a few of your duties! More than anything the individual loves music and to sing, but don't worry we aren't looking for you to have a good voice! No day is the same so a fantastic position for an adventurous support worker!

Working alongside a manager and a deputy and put into practice a plan developed by the family, therapists and Sense. Our aim is supporting the individual in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing. The individuals mother will be a close support with you, and is fantastic to work alongside. The individual has access to their own vehicle so having a full UK drivers license may be beneficial when travelling within the community, but is not essential. 

The general working hours for this position can vary depending on your availability, Monday - Friday, 2pm - 10pm. Saturday & Sunday 8am - 10pm. With the weekend shifts being longer we are able to split this into a morning & afternoon shift between two sense workers, depending on your desired hours of working. There is also potential for additional hours during the school holidays, you may even be studying yourself and only be looking to pick up work during your school holidays? Then this could work perfectly for you. We are able to be flexible with shifts so would love to discuss your options and hear from you

Children's One to one Support Worker, Radstock, Duties:

  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

Children's One to one Support Worker, Radstock, Desired Experiences:

  • A full manual UK license would be beneficial but not essential, as the individual has access to their own vehicle.
  • Knowledge of or qualification in British Sign Language or similar is beneficial ( BSL / Makaton etc.)
  • Have experience in caring for people with disabilities - No need for qualifications, we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker.
  • Knowledge of multi sensory impairments / learning difficullties is beneficial.
