Could you be a Children's Support Worker / Intervenor at Sense?

Sense has a fantastic opportunity available, for a Children's Support Worker / Intervenor in the Bristol - Warmley area. This is a permanent role, where we have a variety of contracts available, Full time – multiple positions available, flexible, part time, annualised hours are all something we can discuss with you depending on your availability. As an intervenor in the Bristol, Warmley area you will work within the following shifts patterns, Daytime hours, 8am-6pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then 8am-5pm Thursday and Friday.

What is an Intervenor? - An intervenor provides one-to-one support to children and young adults who have been born with sight and hearing impairments (congenital deafblindness), often with additional needs. The intervenor helps the individual to experience and join in the world around them as much as possible. They promote their personal and social development, encourage independence and support their communication.

This specific job role will be to support a teenager with complex communication and medical needs at home and to access school and the community. You will be working either 2:1 alongside school staff or family members.You will go through a three-month shadowing period with the current care team and will be fully trained in the individuals medical and communication needs. You will take the lead on the medical routines of the young person. Support will start from home and the staff member will support the individual to school and act as his medical aid whilst there. You will work alongside his support staff at school. Support involves personal care and administration of medication. All training will be given – no medical experience is necessary.

Childrens One to one support Intervenor, Bradley Stoke Bristol, Duties:

  • To support individuals / groups within their homes, schools and community.
  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

Childrens One to one support Intervenor, Bradley Stoke Bristol, Desired Experience:

  • A full UK drivers license would be desired but is not essential.
  • You don’t need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need qualifications – we will provide you with a bespoke training package to enable you to become an excellent Intervenor. 
  • Knowledge of multi sensory impairments / learning difficullties is beneficial.
