Could you be a Sense Community Support Worker / Intervenor?

Its an exciting time, as Sense has just released its new strategy, we are expanding and now have an opportunity for a Community support worker / Intervenor to join us Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire. Offering £11.18 per hour (Includes outer London allowance). This is a unique post working 2 hours every other weekend, You will recieve personalised training to become an Intervenor so no professional care experience is required!

As an Intervenor you will support a young adult who lives in the  Abbots Langley area Support is required every other weekend in their home. Your role is to ensure the individual experiences and lives the life they choose to. Promoting their personal and social development, encouraging independence, and supporting their communication. 

This individual would like support with exploring communication methods, through touch, gestures and pictures. To enable them to make their own choices and understand the world around them. Within this you will introduce sensory activities and offer new experience through interaction.

  • Hatfield - 4 hrs per week

 Community Support Worker / Intervenor, Abbots Langley, Duties:

  • Day to day activities led by the needs and aspirations of the people / person you'll be supporting.
  • Enabling an independent lifestyle
  • To support individuals within their homes and in the community.
  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

 Community Support Worker / Intervenor, Abbots Langley,  Desired Experiences:

  • Be able to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of those you are working with. Where necessary develop new skills to enable communication through sign and symbols.
  • You don’t need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need qualifications – we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker. 
  • Knowledge of multi sensory impairments / learning difficullties is beneficial.
  • Willing and able to accompany/participate in leisure activities of the person’s choice.
