Could you be a Sense Support Worker?

Sense now has a fantastic opportunity for Support Workers at our service based in Pudsey. We are flexible with people’s requirements so are able to offer contracts from 21 hours up to 35 hours per week, depending on your suitability/availability. Sense is offering support workers £9.75 per hour

The day shift patterns are between 07.30 and 21.30 and staff have the option of working a range of shifts depending on the needs of the service and what the staff member might prefer. There are also opportunities to pick up overtime shifts if you wish. 

Sense Bradford Road is a residential service (for 3 people). The service has access to a lovely garden area with raised flower beds, there is also a secluded area that is perfect for a pool on a sunny day, and we have ample seating areas outside for the supported individuals to enjoy a cocktail or drink of choice, whilst, relaxing, socialising or simply watching the world go by.

The service is situated in a lovely residential area that benefits from being within walking distance of the nearby shops, New Pudsey train station and main bus routes.

The duties are varied, and no two days will be the same. The people we support are individuals and they are all treated as such. However, as a general guide, you may support with personal care needs, as well as help to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing. 

This really is an incredible time to join Sense – As we move forward into summer you will be able to arrange and attend weekly day trips with a lunch provided. There are even opportunities for you to support individuals to attend a holiday of their choice, this is a paid opportunity that includes your travel, accommodation, and meals.  

We have a Sense vehicle in situ which all Sense staff are insured to drive, so having a full driving licence would be beneficial for this role.

  • To support individuals / groups within the centre and community.
  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

Your required skills and experiences:

  • You require a full manual UK licence 
  • You don’t need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need qualifications – we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker. 
  • Knowledge of multi sensory impairments / learning difficullties is beneficial.
