About the role
We are looking for a passionate and creative teacher to work as an Education Coordinator at our Sense College in Bedford. Full or part time positions with flexible days available. Therefore please let us know what hours suit you best!
Sense College offers personalised learning for young people with complex disabilities, aged between 16 and 25. Our visitors are supported to achieve their chosen outcomes through formal study programmes, employment, sport and leisure activities within the local community that are fun, but offer the right level of challenge for each individual.
Sense work to develop confidence and independence, and support each person to fulfil their potential.
As the Education Coordinator, you will be responsible for the education programmes for single or dual sensory impaired adults with additional learning difficulties, disabilities and/or complex needs. The successful candidate's duties will include the development of learning objectives, curriculum development, teaching delivery, assessment of progress, and report writing.
A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is desirable for this role, as you may sometimes be required to drive a minibus.
Essential skills and qualities to fulfil the role of Education Coordinator include holding a Level 5 teaching qualification. Showing a positive attitude towards learners with disabilities and an appreciation of this role’s responsibility in keeping them safe is essential. The ability to communicate effectively, inter-personally and in writing is required.
One years’ experience in a teaching environment is essential. Experience of working with PMLD learners is preferred but not essential as training will be provided
You will be an effective communicator and it would be fantastic if you have experience of supporting people with sensory impairments, learning disabilities and/or complex needs.
