Could you be a Sense 1-1 Support Worker / Communicator Guide?

At Sense the people we support are individuals and they are all treated as such, so we have a fantastic, unique position available for a 1-1 Support Worker / Communicator Guide to join us in the Newport area. This is a permanent role, working 6 hours per week, this could be one 6 hour shift or could be split into two 3 hour sessions a week depending on your availability / suitability. You don’t need to have an exisiting qualification or have formally worked within care before, as you will receive a full induction and training into working with Individuals with multi-sensory impairments and disabilities. You may have cared for a family member in the past, and felt the reward? Or be a genuinely caring person looking to help positively impact an Individual's life? Sense are offering you £9.75 per hour.

You will support an adult with multi sensory impairment and complex needs in their home and within the community.  This individual loves to get out and explore the world and is very adventurous, and are located in the Newport area. The Individual is particularly keen to get out on walks and attend the gym. No day is the same so an ideal role for someone that enjoys the active life full of adventure!

The Individual you will support has unique communication requirements so it is essential you can speak both Bengali and Urdu.

Working alongside a manager and a dedicated team at Sense you will support the individual in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing

The general working hours for this position can vary depending on your availability, genrally shift are completed between Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm occasional weekends if requiredThere is also potential for additional hours by matching with any number of new referrals we recieve. We are able to be flexible with shifts so would love to discuss your options and hear from you!

  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

Desired Experiences:

  • A full manual UK license would be beneficial but not essential.
  • Have experience in caring for people with disabilities - No need for qualifications, we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker.
  • Knowledge of multi sensory impairments / learning difficullties is beneficial.
