​Could you be a Sense Communicator Guide / Support Worker?

Sense is looking for a Communicator Guide / Support Worker to join our team in Liverpool. This is a permanent role, working 4 hours per week Saturdays.  

You should be prepared to support a manual wheelchair user and should have the physical ability to push a wheelchair. Candidate and the individual may be accompanied by family members when out in the community, including travelling together. The purpose of the role is to provide a high quality, reliable support service, personalised to suit the individual.To promote independence, choice and enhance inclusion within the community. 

The duties are varied and no two days will be the same. The people we support are individuals and they are all treated as such. As a general guide, you may support with personal care needs, as well as help to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing. You will be supporting an independent individual, living in their own home.

Having a valid UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle is also essential to transport the client.

Key skills and experience:

  • To support individuals / groups within the centre and community.
  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • Knowledge of BSL would be desired but is not essential. 
  • Experience of supporting individuals with complex needs is desirable.
