- Knowledge of or qualification in British Sign Language or similar is beneficial ( BSL / Makaton etc.)
- You don’t need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need qualifications – we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker.
- The willingness to learn, be open minded and to be flexible and adaptable is essential.
- Prior experience of supporting individuals with sensory impairments / learning disabilities and challenging behaviours is desirable.

Could you be a Sense Female Waking Nights Support Worker?
It's an exciting time as Sense has just released its new strategy, we now have an opportunity for a Waking Nights Support Worker to join our service in Exeter.
We’re seeking to recruit a Waking Nights Support Worker on a full or part time basis with contracts available with weekly hours up to 37.5 hours per week. Shifts times are usually 10pm - 8am.
The duties are varied and no two nights will be the same. The people we support at our residential service are individuals and they are all treated as such. As a general guide, you may support with indivuduals needs throughout the night.
The people you will support may have spent the day doing things like; shopping, swimming, going to the beach, or a local football match. We also love our trips; previously we supported individuals to go to Dorset, Cornwall, and even abroad to Lanzarote! We are in Exeter City Centre so very close to all amenities with easy public transport links.
You don’t need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need care qualifications – we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker, we will provide you with all the training you may require. Above all we want someone that shares in our values.
