Sense has a great opportunity for a committed individual to join our team at Sense College as our Deputy Manager

About the role

Sense is looking for a reliable and motivated Deputy Manager to join our team at our specialist education service, in Rothwell, Kettering, Northamptonshire. This is a permanent, full time position, working 37.5 hours per week.  We also have a part time position working 22.5 hours per week.

Sense Centre Rothwell is not just about providing a service or having somewhere to spend your day; it’s a place full of opportunities for both individuals and staff alike.

The successful candidate will support the Education Services Manager to ensure Sense College Sense Centre Rothwell ( SCSCR)  delivers high a quality service to both Education and Adult Social Care funded individuals, this provision is currently split evenly with a total of 30 post 16 individuals attending.

SCSCR delivers services to people with complex disabilities to develop communication skills to enable them to experience the world and fulfil their potential  

As our Deputy Service Manager you will supervise and oversee the adult social care provision.  Work with colleagues to effectively manage, plan and implement a quality education, learning and care provision for learners with sensory impairments and additional learning difficulties. You will ensure that every opportunity is given to the individuals we support to access further education and supported work programmes.

About you 

The successful candidate will meet the following essential criteria;

  • Educated to NVQ level 3 in health and social care
  • Proven experience of supervising and line managing staff in accordance with policy and legislation.
  • A good understanding of Safeguarding. 
  • A clean licence and own car is essential for the post.
  • Experience with writing care plans and has a good understanding of person centred planning and approaches.

Desirable criteria;

  • A good understanding of high complex health needs
  • Experience with timetabling and rota planning and plan and deliver a range of activities or access to opportunities 
  • ICT literate
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Managing conflict, performance and grievance issues 
  • Substantial experience providing support and personal care
  • Keeping up to date records and report writing 
  • Experience or working with internal and external frameworks
