About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sense within the sport and physical activity team as we expand our programme for the first time into South Wales.

We are currently delivering a Sport England funded programme ‘Sense, Active Together’ across 5 regions in England.  As a result of our learning to date, we are now expanding our work into South Wales in order to reach new people and new communities across the country.

Our ambition is to enable more people with complex disabilities to have access to the physical, mental, and social benefits of being active. We’ve learned through our work to date that a person-centred approach is critical to the experiences people have, and we pride ourselves on giving people the time and space to engage with sport and physical activity in a way that best suits them.

The Sports & Physical Activity Coordinator (South Wales) is responsible for growing the provision of sport & physical activity opportunities across Caerphilly and the surrounding areas.

We are looking for someone who has previous project coordination experience, particularly in setting up new activities, and who can build strong partnerships.  The role requires connecting and communicating with a team who work remotely across England and Wales, so the ability to work as a team and independently is key.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate the delivery of a sport & physical activity programme across South Wales organising virtual and face-to-face taster sessions and regular weekly programme of activities for people with complex disabilities.
  • Lead the recruitment of participants with complex disabilities into the programme in line with KPIs, both from within Sense services and in the local community.
  • Monitor the regional expenditure in line with agreed budgets, providing feedback and reports as necessary.
  • Develop local partnerships with providers and facilities across the region, who can host and deliver ‘Sense Active’ sessions.
  • Develop local partnerships with Health and Social Care organisations, Local Authorities, Schools, Colleges and community groups to create referral pathways into the ‘Sense Active’ programme
  • Coordinate and deliver continuous professional development workshops for people working within the sports sector
