About the role

Sense has an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Payroll Team as a Payroll Assistant, based at our office in Wakefield. This is a permanent part time role working 22.5 hours per week, £20,187 pro rata salary dependant on experience.

You will work as a member of the Sense Payroll team ensuring that our payroll procedures are conducted in a timely and accurate manner. 

Your duties include: 

  • Assist with the processing of monthly payrolls, including post changes, starters, leavers, statutory payments/deductions, input of monthly overtime, etc.
  • Assist with the production and distribution of payroll reports and payslips.
  • Answering queries from internal (HR, managers, employees) and external (Government Departments, Banks/Building Societies, Pension Providers) agencies.
  • Filing and archiving of payroll input and reports.

Key skills and experience required

  • Experience of using PC based payroll systems and MS Office
  • Proven recent experience of working in a payroll environment 
  • Experience of working in a customer focussed environment and an understanding of good customer service
  • Some knowledge of HMRC (PAYE & NIC) legislation
  • Good organisational skills, including good time management and the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
