About the role

Sense has an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Business Development team as a Business Development Officer, based at our Sense Touchbase Pears office in Selly Oak, Birmingham. This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. 

The Business Development Officer will be responsible for working with operational (Social Care) colleagues to engage with commissioners, raising the profile of Sense and its broadest service offer. The post holder will also support the retention and growth of current and future provisions through activity supporting tenders and framework applications.  We need to ensure we meet the needs and preferences of people with complex needs, whilst at the same time ensuring we remain relevant and competitive in the local market.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Working with commissioners
  • Managing information
  • Supporting tender / framework / bid writing and processes
  • New business referals

Key skills and experience required: 

  • A good general knowledge and understanding of social care services.
  • Able to demonstrate a good up to date level of knowledge and expertise related  to the commissioning of social care services and in particular of the agenda of personalisation.
  • Skilled in influencing, negotiating and building sustainable working relationships both internal and external to Sense.
  • Able to understand tender documents and write persuasive statements in response
