Could you be a Sense Support Worker?

Here at Sense, we now have a great opportunity for a Support Worker to join our service in West Bromwich.  

This is a permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week. The shift patterns at this service are as follows: 7am-2.30pm, 2pm-9.30pm, 10am-5.30pm and 9am-9.30pm. 

You will join a fantastic team here at our home which CQC rated as 'Good', where you will be supporting two individuals who have learning disabilities with a range of health conditions. 

As a Support Worker, you will support the individuals with personal care needs, as well as help to take part in a wide range of special interests and activities that support their health and wellbeing. 

We like to participate in a wide range of activities, including cycling, disco, hydro pool and outdoor pursuits.

The duties are varied and no two days will be the same. The people we support are individuals and they are all treated as such.

Your duties can include:

  • To support individuals / groups within the home, centre and community.
  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.
  • Full job specification is attached below.

Your required skills and experiences:

  • You require a full manual UK license and must be willing/able to drive.
  • Knowledge of or qualification in British Sign Language or similar is desirable ( BSL / Makaton etc.)
  • You don’t need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need qualifications – we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent support worker. 
  • Having lone working experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour is desirable but not essential.
