​Could you be a Sense Deputy Care Manager?

It's an exciting time as Sense has just released its new strategy, we now have an opportunity for a Deputy Care Manager to join our service in Bristol.  

This is a Fixed Term Contract (FTC) for 24 months, working 37.5 hours per week at our unique new community service Sense Family Centre Woodside based in Bristol.

You will be supported and able to grow and develop within your role will excellent ambiance, which offers a lovely warm and caring atmosphere.

As the Deputy Care Manager, your week would normally be split - 30 hours a week management & 7.5 hours working shift work alongside the family with the individual.

The team you will be managing will be supporting one child with their educational needs across multiple venues and working alongside different therapists.

You will be supported by a manger and you will put into practice a plan that is developed by the individual’s teacher. You will be part of a management team to ensure the individual has support 24 hours a day across 365 days a year. 

You will provide a responsive and high-quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments and/or learning disabilities. You will be a frontline supervisor, supporting the manager to effectively manage a team of staff to deliver person centred, specialist services.

You will need to have a sound knowledge of person centred planning, rota planning and staff management/development. .

Your duties can include:

  • To support individuals / groups and the staff team within the home, centre and community.
  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

Your required skills and experiences:

  • You require a full manual UK license and must be willing to drive your own vehicle.
  • Knowledge of or qualification in British Sign Language or similar is desirable ( BSL / Makaton etc.)
  • You will need to have had proven experience of supervising and line managing staff, as well as experience of coordinating and planning a range of activities. 
  • Knowledge of multi sensory impairments / learning difficullties is beneficial.
