About the role

We’re looking for a motivated person to join our professional team of Education Coordinators at our College in Bedford working 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis.

Due to us being a college, we do have closure periods; so therefore this role is for 41 weeks per year. The salary will be pro-rata to reflect this. 

You will be required to take an analytical and practical approach to all aspects of planning, designing, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. Your responsibility will be for the education programmes for single or dual sensory impaired adults with additional learning difficulties and / or disabilities and complex needs within an independent specialist college setting. Examples of duties undertaken will include initial and ongoing assessments, development of learning objectives within an individual learning plan framework, co-planning with learners, curriculum development, teaching delivery, assessment of progress, report writing and transition planning for next steps.

You will be expected to take the lead responsibility for planning and delivering Education programmes and for monitoring the progress made by learners funded through the Education Funding Agency (EFA). The service you provide will be subject to inspection under the Ofsted Common Inspection Framework and you will be working within the Sense College educational systems and processes

Key Skills and Experience required:

  • Level 5 teaching qualification e.g. Certificate in Education or Post Graduate Certificate Education (PGCE)
  • Experience of working in a teaching environment
  • Experience of working with individuals with complex needs
  • GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths is an essential requirement for this role.
  • Show a positive attitude in working with learners with disabilities
