Could you be a Children's Support Worker?

Its an exciting time as Sense has just released its new strategy, we are expanding and now have an opportunity for a support worker to join in Radstock.  

This is a unique new service supporting one child at home and in the community, working alongside the family. You will be supported by a manager and a deputy and put into practice a plan developed by the family, therapists and Sense as part of a team around the individual.

This is a permanent post, where working can be flexible, we will assess your suitability / availability and a mutual agreement will be made with you and the family. Support will be around the clock out of school hours so mainly evenings and nights, weekends and school holidays. We also have other services that you may well be suitable for, if so, we will discuss these with you too.

The internal title for this post is 'Intervenor'. You will receive specialist bespoke training to become an Intervenor (worth over £500). This will give you all the skills and tools you need to support and communicate with this wonderful individual.

Your duties can include:

  • Day to day activities led by the needs and aspirations of the people / person you'll be supporting.
  • Community Access.
  • Enabling an independent lifestyle.

Your required skills and experiences:

  • Hold a valid UK driving licence
  • Be able to adapt your communication style to meet the needs of those you are working with. Where necessary develop new skills to enable communication through sign and symbols.
  • Experience of working independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Willing and able to accompany/participate in leisure activities of the person’s choice.
