About the role

Sense has an exciting opportunity for a reliable and motivated Manager to join our team in the West Midlands. This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week.

As the Manager of our Community Support Services, you will provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments and/or learning disabilities, supporting in their own homes, in the community and from our resource centre. You will effectively manage a team to deliver person centred, specialist services that meet organisational standards and expectations.

This is a growing service, and you will be actively responding to referrals in order to build on current provision. In order to do this, you may will be required to work some weekends. There will be extensive travel across the West Midlands (mileage is paid) in order to support directly, and to manage the staff team who work in these services.

You will need to have a sound knowledge of person centred planning, rota planning, staff management/development and budget management. In order to support Sense’s commitment to high quality, accountable services, you will need to be aware of the expectations of the Health and Social Care Act 2015 and to develop an understanding of Senses’ Quality Assurance system. You will be required, to be registered with the relevant external agencies and maintain compliance.

About You

You must have or be willing to work towards a Level Five Diploma in Health and Social Care (or equivalent), or be working towards an accredited award. You will need to have had proven experience of supervising and line managing staff in accordance with policy and legislation, as well as experience of managing misconduct, grievance and performance issues.

You will need to have a valid UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle, as travel across the West Midlands to support remote services is essential.

Some staff and individuals we support communicate using British Sign Language (BSL) so knowledge or ability to communicate using BSL is advantageous.

The successful candidate will have experience of dealing with challenging situations and of advocating in the best interests of individuals.
