What is an Intervenor?
An Intervenor provides one-to-one support to children and young adults who have been born with sight and hearing impairments (congenital deafblindness), often with additional needs. The Intervenor helps the individual to experience and join in the world around them as much as possible. They promote their personal and social development, encourage independence and support their communication.
This job role will be to support children in Bristol and will be based in the community. Typical activities will involve supporting the individuals to access the community of their choosing and encourage the young person’s communication and social interaction.
This role is to support children of varying medical and communication needs, in Bristol. A job share arrangement or changes to the hours could therefore be considered in order to meet the needs of the people we support and the successful candidate. Part time hours are available in term time with additional hours offered in school holidays and as relief.
We are looking for people to join our team of adaptable and motivated staff. They must have great communication skills and should want to help make a difference to the lives of the people we support.
You must have a valid full UK driving licence and your own car.
You don’t need to have previous experience in this field, nor do you need care qualifications – we’re happy to work with you to help you become an excellent Intervenor, we will provide you with all the training you may require. Above all we want someone that shares in our values. These are:

The duties are varied and no two days will be the same. The people we support are individuals and they all treated as such. However, as a general guide, duties may include activities such as supporting the individuals to access the community and encourage their communication and social interaction.
