Sense has a great opportunity for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Community Support Worker in the  Beckenham area of London. The role is working 1:1 with an individual, 4 hours per week consiting of two 2 hour sessions or one 4 hour session per week attracting a pay rate of £10.25 per hour.

About the role…

We are looking for a reliable and motivated person to work as a Support Worker in the community. You will support an individual with dual sensory loss.

You will be supporting with:
- Access to information – including organising appointments, reading correspondences, and support with making telephone calls.  
- Mobility - In the form of sight guiding and accessing the community and local amenities. 
- Activities in the home - including cooking, support with understanding the benefit of assistive equipment.
- Activities outside of the home - including shopping, paying bills, going to the bank, medical appointments, socially interact with others.

What we need from you…

As you will be supporting an individual, we need you to have the drive and compassion to support them and be able to communicate in a method you are both able to understand.
You must be able to travel to services and support the individual to access community activities. You must have the ability and willing to learn tactile communication i.e. block. Ability to use own initiative. A commitment to our values, respect, choice, dignity and listening/ understanding.
It is beneficial if you have experience of working with adults with complex communication needs and if you have experience using tactile communication methods i.e. Block.
