Could you help some amazing people to communicate, express themselves and connect with the world?
About the role
We are currently recruiting Support Workers to join our residential service in Exeter attracting a salary of £9.25 per hour. Working up to 37.5 hours per week.
As a Support Worker you will support and enable people to live the life they choose: to make choices, to express themselves and live as independently as possible.
Our Exeter service is one of Sense's core services having recently celebrated its 25-year anniversary. We currently support nine people with a variety of disabilities and communication needs. In addition to assisting with personal care, you’ll support our residents to do the activities they enjoy; this might include shopping, swimming, going to the beach, or a local football match. We also love our trips; last year we supported individuals to go to Dorset, Cornwall, and even abroad to Lanzarote!
Key skills and experience
Care experience is not necessarily required for this role. You know if you have the compassion and motivation to improve people’s quality of life, Sense can give you the skills. It is really important that you’re adaptable and able to work on your own initiative, always putting the people we support first.
Flexibility is needed as working times do vary and will include evenings and weekends. Our day shifts typically run from 8am to 3pm, and 3pm to 10pm, though this may vary.
For everyone living with complex disabilities. For everyone who is deafblind. Sense is here to help people communicate and experience the world.
We believe that no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, should be isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential.
Working as a Support Worker at Sense can be incredibly rewarding; we offer the opportunity to work in a large, diverse and successful charity where people can develop their skills, knowledge and careers in a supportive and flexible environment. In addition, we have excellent training and development, the opportunity for you to join our Group Personal Pension scheme and a generous annual leave entitlement.
