About the role

Sense has an exciting opportunity for passionate and dedicated people to join our team in the Devon and Cornwall area as a Senior Support Worker (Intervenor).

As one of our Intervenors you will provide one-to-one support to a child who has been born with sight and hearing impairments. Each day will be different to meet the needs of the individual, you might provide support in the child’s home, or enable them to get out and about in the local area to engage with the activities they are passionate about.

We have a number of vacancies available with some fantastic people, including:

  • One 7-year-old boy with CHARGE syndrome needs 4.5 hours of care per week in Gunnislake. He is a very energetic, fun loving character who loves all things related to trains, exploring the great outdoors and getting stuck in with a local music group.
  • An active 15-year-old boy who is deafblind wants needs 6 hours of support per week to get out and about with his friends in the Plymouth area. He likes nothing more than a trip to a theme park, going ice skating and experiencing new activities, but is not a fan of shopping (unless it’s for food!)

Your attention and care you will promote development of social skills and independence, so they can experience the world around them as much as possible.

We also have a number of part time, annualised and casual vacancies available across our Community Services team in the Exeter, Plymouth, Bovey Tracey and Gunnislake area. Let us know what works for you!

About you 

We're looking for someone who's ready to get really involved in the development of the life skills of the individuals we support. It'd be great if you had experience of providing practical support to people with learning disabilities and / or multisensory impairments. It's essential that you are willing to learn and facilitate new communication methods, including BSL and pictorial communication systems

A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is essential for this role.
