About the role
Sense are looking for a reliable and motivated person to join our team as a Senior Support Worker (Intervenor) in Gunnislake, Cornwall. This is a part time position working 9 hours per week.
An Intervenor provides one-to-one support to a child or adult who has been born with sight and hearing impairments – known as congenital deafblindness. The day-to-day role of an Intervenor varies dependant on the needs of the individual, the nature of the sensory impairment and the ways they wish to communicate.
As an Intervenor (Senior Support Worker) you will be to enable the individual to experience and join in the world around them as much as possible. This will be done by promoting the person’s social and personal development, encouraging their independent skills and facilitating their communication. This support may be provided in someone’s home, their local community or work setting and personal care may be required.
The ideal candidate will have achieved, or be willing to work toward, a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent). You will have had experience of working with and providing practical support to, people with learning disabilities and / or multisensory impairments. We are also particularly interested people who have British Sign Language skills to a level one or higher.
A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for this role.
