About the role

Sense has an exciting new opportunity for a Regional Sports Coordinator to join our team on a part time basis (equivalent of 3 days per week) working in Rotherham, and the surrounding areas.

We have established an innovative pilot sport and physical activity programme in Rotherham, that supports people with learning disabilities and autism to get into sport.  We are looking for someone who can expand the pilot programme opportunity to meet participant needs through local links via social work teams, the local authority, active ability, and Rotherham United Community Sports Trust.

The post holder will deliver a programme that will provide a safe place for people to access sport, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, and develop relationships with peers. You will organise a range of sporting opportunities with defined performance targets and administer all aspects of the programme to a high standard.

We are looking for someone who is able to work autonomously as well as in a team to further embed this pilot work in Rotherham and the local areas, including Sheffield and Leeds, by building on existing relationships and partnering with organisations at a strategic level to widen opportunities in a new area of the country.

About you

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about disability sport, and preferably has some delivery and coaching experience as well as the skills required to take the programme to the next level.

As our successful candidate, you will have previous project coordination experience, particularly in setting up and delivering community sports programmes for people with disabilities. You will have a demonstrable positive attitude and embrace working with a variety of different people. It would be advantageous if you are able communicate using sign or symbolic language.
