About Sense

Sense has been helping people who are deafblind and with sensory impairments to enjoy more independent lives for over 60 years.  We support and campaign for people of all ages, from children through to older people, with a wide range of sight and hearing difficulties and associated communication needs or additional learning disabilities. We provide tailored support, advice and information as well as specialist services to individuals, their families, carers and the professionals who work with them.

About the role

We are currently recruiting for MSI Consultant Teachers to work 37.5 hours per week on a permanent contract. We currently have two vacant positions, ideally we are seeking a person to cover the North Locality and a further to cover the South; we will however consider applicants from other locations. The role may attract a London allowance dependent on location.

Children’s Specialist Services is a national multi-disciplinary team providing high quality support, advice and assessments for multi-sensory impaired (MSI) children, young people and their families. We offer family support through family days, parent groups, and assessment as well as running a traded training and consultancy service to a range of organisations and agencies.

Are you experienced in working with children or young people who have sensory impairments and / or complex and medical needs, and their families?

Are you a skilled and engaging trainer who is passionate about focusing on young people’s achievements?

Are you able to undertake assessment that focuses on the whole-child’s needs and on what they can rather than can’t do?

If the answer is yes to one or more of these then we are particularly keen to hear from you.

Skills and abilities

We are looking for experienced advisory teachers with Mandatory Qualifications in teaching children with multi-sensory impairment, hearing impairment or vision impairment.

Roles will require travel across their locality and occasionally nationally. In return we offer specialist training and support to enable professional development, opportunity to join the company pension scheme and enhanced family benefits, and in addition a company car if eligible.

Home-based working and flexible working arrangements can be considered including job-share based upon the needs of the service.

This is an opportunity to work with highly talented, diverse and supportive colleagues who are passionate about supporting children and young people with MSI and their families.
